if i could have made love

"If i could have made love to that cheese and mushroom burger i would have" words often uttered bout my food and yet left wondering what i have to do to get more customers inthe door!!! Honestly cant remember a meal being sent back ever,only high praise.Currently serving a dish called chicken wellington which is fast becoming drews signature dish-puff pastry base smothered in cream cheese and mustard,oregano and thyme,topped with sauteed mushrooms and roast chicken,covered with puff pastry and baked-what a winner!!So much to offer and yet so few to experience it.......

why?????

Needing to offload-the eagles playing classics and i mean classics,great food served tonite the chicken pie has gone down a storm!!! Just cant seem to get my head around the fact that we are serving awesome food at great prices the music wont be found at any other venue in town,and thats a promise-where are the people??? Chicken pie and home made twice fried chunky fries for only R60!!! Great vibe, great service,awesome music what more do i have to do??? Regulars here tonite dont even bother asking for menus anymore,they trust my judgement and have never been let down....Its starting to bother me!!!!

back again

Been a while and so much has happened,so bear with me!!On top of trying to get drews up and running our landlord is not making it any easier,switching power off for a week even tho we had paid our bill!!!!So a week without trading has not helped the cause,never mind the loss of goodwill to customers.Who would believe that a landlord would be so underhand as to not pay council even tho we had paid him into his trust account?????
Things are picking up,i am feeling more posotive than ever,and its coming out in the food that is coming out of the kitchen,current specials include the perenial fav
chicken ala king,ground beef chilli con carne,lamb shanks that are flying and yesterday added chicken skewers marinated in mint,coriander,chilli,lemon zest-free range birds do seriously make a difference.
Have 3 huge bookings for july all 3  over 80 pax great bookings for mid winter.
Have got some really great regulars who dine at drews at least once a week,in fact they dont even look at the menu anymore and trust my choice of specials to serve them-never heard of that before,clearly doing something right,and i know it and therefore strengthens my belief in drews as a brand that once established will be around for a long while-its just a knowing!!!!

amped

Friday is here and i have renewed energy.Been a while since i been up for food specials,and today the inspiration arrived!! Got fresh yellow fin tuna,fresh cape salmon-made some roasted garlic cream to go with the cape salmon and wasabi mayo all delicious......
Bar is stocked and ready to rock and roll.....
Had a more than reasonable evening last nite and hoping to build on it,tonite.

loose lips sink ships

I knew the sun would rise today,and what a beautiful day it is!! Besides all the stuff going down,i am feeling much better bout stuff now-realised this morning that i have had tougher times and have always come thru-thank you boarding school.....
Even introduced a new menu item today,stunning kassler chops with mash and peas and a honey mustard glaze,tried a portion on myself for lunch-my butcher assured me that they are very good and i am very pleased to tell you that he is right!!
Keen as mustard to get going on the winter menu,and then we have a day like today,winter in cape town,rough?Yeah right......
I guess you are wondering what my title is all about,well,it speaks for itself!! And i really cant elaborate anymore,just to say that going forward there will only be posotive posts from drews........

bleak

Not sure i should even be posting,given my state of mind-how does one get tears on a digital page???
Did have 4 customers for lunch,2 of whom were repeats,which is a good thing,yes???? Really need a reasonable evening to lift my spirits.
My mantra for the forseeable future is simply going to be-WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH,THE TOUGH GET GOING!!!!!

upbeat

WOW,what a difference a few good days make!!!!Had our best lunch yesterday by miles......and last evening was'nt  to shabby either.So upbeat am i that i have been doing some serious research and have come up with some groovy new recipes-seared calamari and chorizo with rocket and crispy wedges.Also busy making stock for corn chowder with bacon,a heavy soup can't stand watery soups!!!!
My belief is so strong that drews is going to make it......
Royal wedding tomorrow,so am going to special rare roast beef (prime rib)and creamed horseradish on yorkshire pudding.Gonna be awesome!!!
Last couple of days before the dreaded month end,am hoping for a bumper week end to keep the wolf from the door.......

the end is in sight

It would appear that my dream is about to come to an end!!! Cant really put my finger on it,but the economy and  public holidays certainly arnt helping-drews needs to make roughly 30 000 before the end of the month or!!!!
I have tried so hard and thats the biggest hurdle for me to overcome,currently working 14 to 16 hrs a day to save wages etc,and still its not enough-i still cant believe its almost over.......
Not sure if there is anything left to say......

its over,now back to the grindstone

Party week end is over,now its back to getting drews on track!! Not much to report from the party except one arse who will remain unnamed,why people have to i just dont know!!!!! Anywhoooo,it was good.
Sunday was a good rest day,but that's all gonna change when drews opens for lunch on sundays,the intention is to get aspiring muso's in to play....
Toying with all sorts of menu ideas for lunch,if you have any please feel free to post them...

the big day has dawned,dont feel any different!!Was thinking bout how to go about blogging last nite,and then it dawned on me that this is the perfect forum to keep peeps up to date bout happenings at drews,the quirky stuff that goes down!!Was meaning to keep a diary about drews and here it is!!
Expecting a crowd tonite and really hope its a big one-needless to say we need it.So at shop early,my trusty day staff busy cleaning and getting ready for the day,they sang happy birthday to me,they are so cool.My wish for them is that drews does so well that i am able to pay them more than the industry norm!!! Which sucks!!!
Please feel free to post any ideas you may have for drews?
Keeping an eye on the rugby,go saders only cause i picked them on the bru,nice to see mc caw back in action.This is all new to me so plse bear with me??
